What's actually included in a regular clean (and what's not)

One of the most common questions we hear from people considering a regular cleaner is a very fair one. What exactly do I get? It is easy to picture a cleaner arriving and somehow magically transforming the whole house, but a good regular clean is a defined piece of work with a clear scope. Knowing what is included, what counts as an add-on and why, helps you get the most from every visit and avoids any awkward surprises. So here is an honest, room-by-room walk-through of what a regular clean with MiraBelles actually covers across our Torbay and South Devon homes.

The kitchen

The kitchen is the hardest-working room in any home, so it gets proper attention. A standard regular clean here includes wiping down all the worktops and accessible surfaces, cleaning the hob and the splashback, wiping the front of the cupboards and appliances, cleaning and shining the sink and taps, and dealing with the everyday grease and splashes that build up around a busy cooking space. The floor is washed, the bin area is tidied and the outside of the microwave and kettle are wiped down too.

What is not automatically included is the inside of the oven. A proper oven clean is a deep, time-consuming job in its own right, so it sits as a popular add-on rather than part of the standard visit. The same goes for the inside of the fridge and freezer, which we are very happy to do on request.

The bathrooms

Bathrooms are all about hygiene, and this is where a regular clean really earns its keep. Each visit we clean and sanitise the toilet inside and out, scrub the bath and shower, clean the basin and taps, wipe down tiles and surfaces, polish the mirror and glass, and wash the floor. Living in South Devon with our hard water, we pay particular attention to the limescale that loves to form on taps, screens and showerheads, keeping it in check before it has a chance to set hard.

Bedrooms and living areas

Across the bedrooms and living spaces, the focus is on dusting, floors and general freshness. That means dusting all the accessible surfaces, skirting boards, sills and furniture, hoovering carpets and rugs thoroughly, mopping hard floors, and tidying surfaces as we go. Mirrors and glass are polished, and the rooms are left feeling aired and cared for rather than simply tidied.

Making beds is a standard courtesy. Actually changing the bed linen, however, is usually treated as an add-on, partly because it takes time and partly because people like to choose when fresh sheets go on. Just let us know and we will happily fold it into your visit.

The little finishing touches

The difference between an adequate clean and a lovely one is in the small things, and these are exactly what we care about. Plumped cushions, neatly folded throws, emptied bins with fresh liners, a tidy line of products in the bathroom, a kitchen that smells fresh. None of these take long on their own, but together they are what make a home feel genuinely looked after when you walk back through the door. We treat your home as we would want our own treated.

Standard versus add-ons: a clear list

To make it really simple, here is the general picture. Every home is a little different, so we always confirm the exact scope with you, but this is the typical split.

  • Standard in a regular clean: kitchen surfaces and floors, hob and sink, bathrooms cleaned and sanitised, dusting throughout, hoovering and mopping, mirrors and glass, beds made, bins emptied, the finishing touches.
  • Common add-ons: ironing, inside the oven, inside windows, changing bed linen, laundry, inside the fridge or freezer, and other one-off extras.

The add-ons are not us holding things back. They are genuinely separate jobs that take real time, so it is fairer to price them in only when you actually want them rather than padding everyone's quote.

Why the first clean is often a little deeper

When you start a regular schedule, the first visit frequently takes a bit longer or is booked as a slightly deeper initial clean. There is good reason for this. A home that has not been professionally cleaned in a while carries a backlog, the limescale that has had months to set, the dust in the corners, the build-up behind and around things. Tackling that properly at the start sets a clean baseline. Once your home is at that standard, each regular visit simply maintains it, which is far more efficient and keeps the ongoing cost down. Think of the first clean as drawing the line, and every visit after as holding it.

The same cleaner, every time

Wherever practical, the same trusted cleaner returns to your home on each visit. This matters more than people expect. They learn your home, which surfaces need extra care, where you like things kept, the quirks of your particular bathroom or that one stubborn patch of floor. Over time the clean becomes tailored to you without you having to explain anything twice. It also means a familiar, friendly face rather than a stranger each fortnight, which is reassuring whether you are home or out. Every one of our cleaners is DBS checked and fully insured, so you can have complete peace of mind either way.

Products are supplied

You do not need to keep a cupboard stocked with cleaning products for us. We bring professional products and equipment as standard. That said, plenty of people prefer we use their own products, perhaps for a particular surface or a personal preference, and we are perfectly happy to do that. If you would rather we used eco-friendly products, just ask and we will bring those along instead. It is your home, so it is your call.

A regular clean should feel transparent and tailored, never a mystery. When you know exactly what is included and what you can add, it becomes a genuinely effortless part of your routine. If you would like us to put together a clear scope for your home, with no surprises and no pressure, we would be glad to help.
